Optical metrology & sensing

Optical metrology systems to meet your measurement needs are at the core of our activities. We have extensive experience in the optics necessary for measuring distance, concentration, spectral content, velocity and more.

Life sciences
The field of automated measurements using optics is enabling many new applications in the Life Sciences. Eclipse has developed instruments together with our partners in a number of successful projects, whether related to microscopy, spectroscopy, endoscopy, cytometry, or optometry. We have experience in measuring:

  • Concentrations of compound in liquid
  • Concentrations of compounds in gas
  • Reflectivity
  • Refractive index canges

Automotive
The development of autonomous vehicles is causing a huge surge in demand for high-quality sensors. We have worked with LiDAR systems, stereo camera sensors and eye-tracking which are already used in some advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) of today. Examples of projects we have worked in are

  • Optical design of transceivers
  • Component choice
  • Eye safety and compliance
  • Choosing measurement method (direct/indirect ToF, FMCW, Structured light)
  • Balancing trade-off (FoV vs resolution etc)
  • Cost optimization

Industrial
Precise and ultra-fast measurements are a crucial part of contemporary industrial manufacturing. And while, in many applications, an off-the-shelf system can today do the job, some require advanced and custom development. Eclipse has the experience and knowledge to perform this development with you. We borrow knowledge from other industries to apply and optimize the measurement to specific needs.
