Solar Spectrum Integrator

Online calculator to calculate the irradiance from the sun in a certain waveband and calculate at what distance a specific LED would match the desired peak irradiance of the sun.

1) Enter the wavelength band for the solar spectrum where you want to integrate, then press “Integrate over waveband”. The result is shown above the graph, where also the waveband is highlighted.

You can also change the value for desired illuminance (default value is 100 000 lux) to consider different irradiance for the sun.

2) Enter the LED data: total power and the full width half maximum (FWHM)  angle of emission.

3) Press “Compute LED distance”. The calculator calculates at what distance the peak irradiance will match that of the sun and also provides the peak illuminance value on a flat surface.

This calculator was introduced in our article The Myth of the 10 000 Lux Lamp.
